MEMBERS OF UNIT 613 : IS YOUR FUTURE AT RISK? n

The Christian Labour Association of Canada (CLAC) is nosing around again, making its promises and hoping that you’ll soon be paying dues to its head office.

The Christian Labour Association says that if it gets certified at Aeroguard, “bargaining for a new contract will begin shortly.”

But what the Christian Labour Association doesn’t tell you is that your wages, benefits and other terms of employment would be protected only if CLAC puts a new agreement in place. There are no guarantees about what will be in a CLAC agreement, or more accurately, what will not be in it. This threatens your 3% wage increase on April 1, 2010 as well as the other gains listed below.

 Guaranteed with the USW…

A 3% wage increase due on April 1, 2010

An additional $307.31 per month for FT and $184.40 for PT, effective April 1, 2009, for the cost of living allowance and the VRSC bonus for duration of contract.

On April 1 2010, the requirements to get an extra week vacation are reduced by one year.

On April 1, 2010, you will have an extra sick day.

More bereavement leave – as of April, 2010 you will have an extra day of leave.

On April 1, 2010 Aeroguard must increase its contribution towards your benefit plan by almost 4%.

On April 1 2010, you will receive an addition 1% towards your pension plan.

 Experience counts…

The United Steelworkers represents screeners at all airports Quebec and at the majority of the airports in Ontario and in the Maritimes.

The Christian Labour Association does not represent any airport screeners, anywhere in Canada.

The United Steelworkers has expertise in the issues facing screeners and in the laws that protect you.

The Christian Labour Association does not have that expertise.

The Christian Labour Association is not a recognized union in all Canadian provinces.

YOU HAVE GUARANTEES, YOU HAVE THE EXPERTISE, YOU HAVE SUPPORT FROM FELLOW SCREENERS FROM QUEBEC & ONTARIO, YOU HAVE A STRONG UNION WITH EXPERIENCE IN AIRPORT SECURITY

CAN CLAC SAY THE SAME? WE DON’T THINK SO
